EU PROJECT

EUROPEAN UNION

2nd year 2022 KPF-02-224

The project is a continuation of the „CZECHAUSTRALIAN MARATHON – a running festival in Pálava“. It is an extension of the original project to include the target group of the disabled, their cooperation with the healthy, and the organization of a completely unique joint run for the general public. The intention is to spread awareness about the disabled, to promote friendliness towards these people and to show that the disabled can also participate in activities like other runners. The main aim is to continue cross-border connections, to deepen cooperation between the South Moravian Region and Lower Austria and thus promote good neighbourly relations and a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of the project is to connect those who run and those who at first sight cannot run.

The aim is to reach as many disabled people as possible and involve them in the event. A series of activities will take place within the project, culminating in May 2022 with the organisation of 3 running races (10 km, ½ marathon, marathon). The ambition of the project is to lay the foundation for a new tradition that will be sustainable in the years to come. A tradition that will connect the competitors, fans, the general public and political representatives with the pure landscape of the Pale and Lower Austria on one day, thus recalling a common past and history.

The main objective is to continue cross-border connections, to deepen cooperation between the South Moravian Region and Lower Austria, between the town of Mikulov and bordering Austrian municipalities and to promote good neighbourly relations.

We support sports leisure activity – running, healthy lifestyle and cooperation between healthy marathon participants and disabled people from both sides of the border. The target group of the project are people with disabilities (immobile, blind), individuals, companies with their employees, all without distinction of age and gender.

1st year 2021 KPF-02-168

Our project CZECHAUSTRALIAN MARATHON – a running festival in Pálava and Lower Austria, which took place on 29 May 2021, was financed by the European Union, specifically from the European Regional Development Fund. The increasing popularity of running is one of the most amazing phenomena of the 21st century. Every day, somewhere in the world, a marathon or at least a half marathon is run. In the Czech Republic, running races number in the order of hundreds, the number of runners in the hundreds of thousands. In our Austrian neighbours, the situation is similar and there is no indication that these numbers will not continue to grow. People want to be together and they want to move.

The Czech Republic Marathon Project responds to the great interest of individuals in participating in running events. The aim of the project is to offer a great sporting experience and at the same time to remind the past by the fact that the route will lead through the places where Czechs ran for freedom to Austria several decades ago. To lay the foundation for a new tradition in the border area, to contribute to the deepening of cooperation between the South Moravian Region and Lower Austria, between the town of Mikulov and the border Austrian municipalities.

We want to promote good neighbourly relations, tourism in the region and a healthy lifestyle.

The ambition of the project is long-term. We want to create a tradition that connects racers, fans, the general public and political
